Four stories, four voice actors and four languages. TAICCA selects the recommended books originally published in Taiwan. We will present you the exciting stories which take place on the islands in the east. In these stories composed by voice and images, you will see the weird chopsticks wandering among Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan. You will experience the uncovered stories happening in the film factories in Taiwan. You may follow a boy’s adventure in the biggest market of Taipei in the 1980s while the adventure is related to the magician on the skywalk. You can even feel the literary power of Taiwanese civilians against the martial law and authoritarianism regime in the last part.

Xiao Xiang Shen

As a Taiwanese writer, a reality game designer, and a member of the Taipei Legend Studio, Xiao Xiang Shen has been working on folklore and yōkai (monsters and ghosts) culture for many years. In 2012, he won the bronze prize in the short story category of the Kadokawa Light Novel Award for his book, The Great Taipei Scroll, inspired by the graffiti culture. Many of his novels are about yōkai in the Japanese colonial period.

Zhou Jian-xin has recently established himself as one of Taiwan’s up-and-coming illustrators. His first illustrated title, The Maroon Oriole, won the 2014 Taiwan Golden Butterfly Award for Best Book Design and honorable mention from the International Design Awards. He is the featured artist of Taiwan Pavilion at the 2017 Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL), for the launch of the Spanish edition of Missing Cat Posters.
